Facade cladding hangs on elevations tens of metres high, and two requirements are stricter than for any other use: colour consistency and low water absorption. On a large elevation under changing light, even a slight difference in base colour between two adjacent panels is visible, so the whole job must come from one batch. Low absorption is what survives freeze-thaw cycling — check it closely on northern projects. Panels do not need to be thick; extra thickness only adds dead load and load on the fixings.
